Homework: Homework is due as you walk into the class and on the date stated on the weekly agenda. There is no late homework taken. When I walk into the room, I pick up any homework turned into the homework tray. Everything after that is considered late.
o Use the classroom time given to work on your assignment.
o When turning in homework, fold the paper the "hot dog" way (the long way) and write
your name, period, assignment title and date at the top of the page (or receive a 5 point
deduction) and turn the paper into the homework tray.
Homework & Absences:
o If you have an excused absence, you will be given the same number of days to complete your work, as you were absent. If missed assignments are not made up during this time you will receive a zero for those assignments not made up.
***Keep in mind that if you were assigned homework that is due the day you were absent, you will turn it in the day you return to class or it’s late.
o If you miss school due to school sponsored activities or pre-arranged family trips, you are expected to turn in work on time unless you have made prior arrangements with me.
o Remember: If you are absent, COME SEE ME BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL IF YOU NEED HELP with make-up work. It is your responsibility to find out missed assignments (posted on board), not mine.
Leaving the Classroom:
o Every class is responsible for putting up the materials used and cleaning up after oneself before the bell rings or after the bell rings if necessary.
o If students are called to leave the classroom by a teacher, the office or another person (of authority) students are to exit the room quietly without disturbing others around him/her which includes other students to not disturb the student as he/she leaves.
o Students may leave the classroom if another teacher requests the student by writing a pass and signing it. If approved by me, the student may leave when he/she knows and understands the responsibilities for the day. The student will be responsible for completing and turning in work on time.
Fire & Disaster Drills: The procedure for fire and severe weather drills will be practiced.
The fire escape plan is posted beside the classroom door. In case of a tornado, students will move to interior rooms and line themselves around the room kneeling, facing the wall with hands over their head.
During drills, students will keep calm at all times and follow the procedure and go to the designated area for protection.
3 BELLS - Fire - leave the building
1 BELL - halt and wait for further instructions
1 BELL - Return to classroom
1 Continuous BELLS - Tornado – move quietly but quickly to auditorium
2 short bells- Return to class
Restroom: Students are allowed one restroom pass per six weeks. Students will sign the pass when they need to go to the restroom. Name, time and destination are to be included on the pass and the teacher must sign it, if approved. It is the student’s responsibility to attend to his/her personal needs in between classes by using the time given, which should be sufficient.
Nurse: A student with special medical needs must inform the teacher of any and may leave the room at the allotted time for medication by taking the room pass; otherwise take care of personal needs before class starts.
Library / Computer Lab:
Students will be given time to do research in the library and computer lab when a project requires research or computer time. Students must take advantage of the time given. Any work not completed during the given time will be the student’s responsibility to complete during his/her own time since ample time will be given to complete the assignment.
Notebook Requirements
You will be responsible for keeping a notebook and bringing it to class everyday. The notebook will contain all work done throughout the year. It will be your study guide for classwork, homework, quizzes and tests. You will put all graded work into the notebook. The notebook will contain:
1)Chapter Handouts
2)Homework/Classwork
3)Lecture Notes
4)Lab worksheets/Lab Reports
The notebook is considered a quiz grade and will be turned in at the end of the six weeks as your last assignment for the six weeks. You must maintain / organize your notebook as you receive your papers. You will receive a notebook checklist telling you what should be in the notebook. Sufficient time will be given for you to verify the checklist and then you must turn in your notebook. Keep in mind that this check may occur at any time during the 6 weeks so you must keep up with your notebook as we go along in order for this to be possible. Remember that this is a quiz grade.
This notebook grade is an easy way to help yourself out. You can easily make a “100” if you simply organize your materials. You can improve your grade and be organized at the same time. Your grade will reflect your effort.
