WELCOME TO MRS. GINN'S 2ND GRADE
WELCOME TO 2ND GRADE

Summer's over and the time has come to get back to work. I'm excited about our Voyager Reading program. It's an awesome program that incorporates reading, writing, language arts, spelling, science, and social studies. Each day Monday through Thursday your child will have Voyager homework. Each child will be required to read 15 minutes each night from their AR book or another book of their choice. They will have a reading log that has to be filled in each night with the title of their book, the author, and they have to follow direction in the log and do something pertaining to the book they have read.

This year we will begin a new math program. The Sharon Wells Math Curriculum is what we will be doing this year. Teachers will be trained in this program before school starts, then after the year begins there will be a half day training every six weeks to continue to learn the best way to teach the program. We are excited about this new math and are hopeful that it will help to bring up our math averages across the district.

We will continue to do Accelerated Reader. Each child will have a goal set at the first of the year and work all year to earn the points to meet their goal.

Welcome and I'm excited to begin a new year with a new and wonderful group of kids!

Who is Mrs.Ginn?
I grew up in Hale Center and graduated from HCHS in 1977. My husband's name is Danny who was also a graduate of HCHS. We have three children. I went to Wayland Baptist University and graduated in 1992. I began my teaching career in Hale Center the following fall semester in 1992. I taught a Pre-First class my first year. The second year I taught 3rd grade. Then in 1994 I began teaching 2nd grade and have been there ever since.

I love my job and I love my students. I stress the importance of our classroom being family oriented. We treat each other with respect and never make fun of other class members.
Prayer is a major part of my life and I make an effort to pray for each one of my students each week. God is awesome and He wants us to depend on him for everything. I depend on him on a daily basis to give me the wisdom each day to give the students what they need on a personal basis and also on an educational basis.
